What you do
- Listen to short recordings in English (American).
- Write down exactly what is said, as it is spoken, without tidying it into a standard form.
- Your text is compared with a known answer or checked by a second reviewer.
What you need
- You speak English (American) natively: you grew up with it.
- You are 18 or older and have a verified email address.
- You pass a short voice screening: answer three everyday questions aloud in English (American). A native speaker listens and qualifies you.
- A phone or computer with a microphone. No degree or experience needed.
How pay works
- $10 to $15 an hour of expected time. Each task shows its pay and expected time before you start, and never pays less than $8 an hour.
- Approved work goes to your balance. Once it reaches $10 you can ask for the whole balance by PayPal.
- You work as an independent contractor: no shifts, no minimum hours, and you choose which tasks to take.
How to apply
- 1. Create a free sōtem account and tell us the languages you speak natively.
- 2. Read and accept the contributor terms.
- 3. Record the voice screening in English (American). You hear back once a native speaker has listened.
